When buying products look out for OekoTex label certifies that every component of the product, from the fabric to the thread and accessories, has been rigorously tested against a list of up to 350 toxic chemicals.
It's important to check for this as some of the chemicals scientists have found in garments – such as tributyl phosphate, dimethyl fumarate, and disperse dyes – can be acutely toxic or hazardous, causing skin reactions or asthma.
Organic cotton is a type of cotton that is produced without the use of pesticides or synthetic chemicals. Instead, farmers use natural and organic methods to control their fields. This makes organic cotton safer for everyone involved including the environment the farmers and our little ones.
